Everybody hates Josh.
The usual first impression is that he is a snob. Well, he IS a snob but only at first. Once people get to know him, they immediately say that he is "too good to be true". That's when all the "falling in love" and "drooling over" him begins. And I, his poor cousin cannot do anything but watch him flirt and play out every emotion that ever exists in the world.
Out of the many times I have seen him dating and playing around his game of "seduction", only thrice did he really fall in love (after his break up with his Phoebus). And the problem with this is that when he takes a girl seriously, he changes into this really romantic guy, forgetting the casa nova act and everything else that once mattered to him.
But every once in a while, the casa nova returns and possesses him, leading him to ruin his relationship. Either that or his parents ruin it for him.
We have such a close-knit family. And we all hate that fact.
Raynell is mine and Josh's best friend but I know for a fact that she hates and loves him at the same time. She hates it when he plays around, not giving a care about the feelings of other people. She never failed to give him a decent advice. The problem though is that he knows what he is supposed to do but is too proud to do it.
His parents say the same thing. He is a good boy but when it comes to his love life, he becomes so stubborn that they have to execute drastic measures to stop him. He fights but only at first. He pretends to be strong for his relationship but in the end, he gives up. He really is a coward.
But his last so-called relationship seems different. Never in my whole life have I seen him suffer that much. He claims to be happy but I know he lies.
Now i see myself as wrong. He really was HAPPY, in the strictest sense of the word.
With her, Josh changed into a person know one ever thought he could be.
He knows how much people hate him but still, he never stopped trying to please them. He ignored their comments and insults, hoping that they will one day realize that they are all wrong about him. He studied harder than ever, controlling himself from being urged by our blockmates to cut classes. He set his priorities right. He surpassed the expectations of being the eldest son and older brother that his family expected him to be.
But all to no avail.
His family saw him as weak for changing. They said that they lost the sensible son they were all so proud of. They had him severely punished for disappointing them.
Worse, they forced him to leave "his life" at the threat of having her killed.
Being the obedient son that he is, he did his duty.
Goodbye, Ren. People still hate you. But I love you for doing your best to make them see the real you.
